Bucks County Historical Society waits for decision on railroad sale

The 128-year-old Stewartstown Railroad is a southern York County, Pennsylvania, landmark in the small town for which it is named. It is also at the heart of a $350,000 property dispute. The railroad's foreclosure is likely if the debt to the estate of a deceased private lender, who made the Bucks County Historical Society a beneficiary, goes unpaid.

Allentown's proposed ice arena displaces local day-care

To avoid the process of eminent domain, the owner of the building that houses the New Generation Learning Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania, has agreed to let the city buy her property for a negotiated price. The woman who owns the day-care center, however, says she's running into problems trying to move her business into a nearby neighborhood. The day-care center has to vacate its North Seventh Street building so the city can build a proposed hockey arena for the Philadelphia Flyers' minor league team.

A developer who wants to level an old Philadelphia monastery to create a new apartment housing complex isn't having an easy time. The brownstone structures, including a chapel, garden and reflecting pool, haven't been used by nuns in more than 30 years.

Penn Township officials want Red Rose Inn by eminent domain

The Red Rose Inn, off Route 1 in Chester County, Pennsylvania, is set to be auctioned off in July as part of a foreclosure proceeding, unless Penn Township officials take the property under eminent domain. The township says it has ideas to preserve the three-story, decaying structure and use it as an administration building.
